Your stove manual wins. Most pellet manuals say the same thing in plain words: wait until the stove and ash are fully cool before you vacuum. They rarely publish one shared clock number, and we will not invent one.

Cool ash first means no glowing embers, no warm pockets under the surface, and no “I’ll just do it quick.” If anything still feels warm after you stir, wait longer.

Quick check (do this every time)

1. Shut the stove down. Unplug if your manual says to for cleaning.
2. Wait until the stove and ash are cool per your manufacturer.
3. Stir the ash with a metal tool. Cool ash on top can hide heat underneath.
